Forklift Operator Training

Yes. OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.178(l) requires employers to ensure that all forklift operators are trained and evaluated before operating powered industrial trucks. Operators must be recertified at least every three years.

A standard initial certification course typically takes four to eight hours depending on group size and equipment type. Refresher courses for already-experienced operators can be completed in a shorter timeframe.

Yes. We prefer to train operators on the actual equipment and in the environment where they'll be working whenever possible. On-site training produces better results and satisfies OSHA's workplace-specific requirements.

Each operator receives a training completion certificate. We also provide the employer with a signed evaluation record for each participant, which should be kept on file to demonstrate OSHA compliance during any inspection.
